Featured Highlights:
Samuel Beckett’s "Waiting for Godot"
Written shortly after World War II and premiered in 1953, the staging is sparse and the meanings are open to diverse interpretation – a sure sign of high art. The play speaks to you in different ways the more you study it and depending on the perspectives you take. A true classic of 20th century literature and voted by the Royal National Theatre as the most significant English-language play of the century.
Eithne Strong and Paula Meehan
Strong, a poet from Limerick, reveals in her work powerful senses of humanity, belief and a revelatory sense of justice. Coming from Dublin, Paula Meehan (b 1955) is a compelling talent writing for film and contemporary dance as well as collaborations with visual artists.
"Postscript" by Seamus Heaney
A poignant poem capturing a fleeting moment by the sea as well as the sight of swans on a lake inviting readers to take the time to travel to north county Clare between September and October when the sea is lit up and glittering.
"Raglan Road" by Patrick Kavanagh
